Engineering Test Technician – Surrey, BC

We have an opening in our Engineering team, with an immediate need for an Engineering Test Technician. As an Engineering Test Technician at Excell Battery, you will be involved with a broad range of product testing. Your work will encompass a range of battery technology, with a primary focus on Validation, Verification, and Qualification testing. As a member of the Engineering Team, you will work with the design team to define test protocols, execute those protocols, and produce test reports to communicate your findings.

YOU WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR
- Validation of Excell designed battery management systems, battery assemblies, and components
- Verification testing of Excell designed battery assemblies
- Defining test protocols in collaboration with the Engineering design team
- Hardware-related failure analysis, both independently and within a small team
- Preparing documentation and test reports to communicate your findings
- Installation and maintenance of Engineering test infrastructure
- Maintaining, following, and enforcing internal test quality procedures
- Estimating and meeting test milestones and completion dates
- Participating in multi-disciplinary FMEA sessions
- Upholding the standards of our Quality system, while completing test procedures within the allotted time
YOU HAVE
- A diploma in mechatronic, electrical, electronic, or a related engineering field or 3 years of equivalent experience
- 2 or more years of experience in a product testing or similar discipline
- A keen attention to detail, with the ability to analytically think through and solve problems
- Experience with a wide variety of hand tools, including the ability solder connections
- A working knowledge of test equipment including temperature chambers, power supplies, programable loads, oscilloscopes, data acquisition systems, battery cycling systems, and digital multimeters
- An understanding of technical drawings, including electronic schematics and dimensional drawings
ADDITIONAL ASSETS
- Experience writing or altering test automation software produced in LabVIEW
- Familiarity with mechanical CAD software such as Solidworks
- An understanding of electronic manufacturing processes, including associated requirements and design constraints for manufacturing testability
- Experience working within an ISO 13485 or ISO 9001 Quality Management System
- Direct experience with Battery Management System testing, including the TI BQ series of battery gauges
