Mike MacWillie

Director of Engineering

Mike joined Excell in 2012 for electronic design, but quickly moved into management. Since 2019, he has served as our Director of Engineering. With over 15 years of experience in the electronics industry, Mike began his professional career in test development. Inspired by his interest in renewable energy, he transitioned to a focus in the battery industry with his move to Excell.

As head of the engineering department, he oversees all new product development. Methodical and detail-oriented by nature, Mike takes expert care of each project, following development for the entire lifecycle of a product. Always looking for ways to expand capabilities, Mike was instrumental in bringing all of Excell’s Battery management system design in-house.

He enjoys the wide variety of applications brought in by customers and takes pride in helping customers solve for the complex needs of their respective businesses.
